2. What we collect
| Category | Examples | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Name, email, profile photo (Google sign-in). If you sign in with an email link, we record only that the link was used. Where a LexBlox portal still offers a password, it is stored only in hashed form by Firebase Authentication. | You, or Google if you choose Google sign-in |
| Achievements and CV | Your points, level and badges (worked out on your device and copied to your account once a day), certificates issued to you, events the office recorded you as attending, and the CV details you choose to enter | Your use of the Services, our records and you |
| Reminders | The hour and channel you choose for a daily study reminder, and a push subscription for your browser if you allow notifications | You |
| Devices | A random device identifier created by our app, the device type (phone or computer), a browser and operating-system label (for example "Chrome on Android"), when each device was registered and last used, and a record of device switches and any pause | Your use of the Services |
| Profile | Mobile number, what you are preparing for, university, college, course, semester, state, city; optionally hobbies and blood group (used only for a member ID card) | You |
| Learning | Courses opened, progress, test answers and scores, bookmarks, your revision sheet | Your use of the Services |
| Payments | Order and payment IDs, amount, plan, validity. We do not receive or store card, UPI or bank credentials; Razorpay processes them. | You and Razorpay |
| Requests and messages | Course requests (course, urgency, target date), contact messages, community interest forms, event registrations | You |

3. Why we use it (purposes)
- To create and secure your account and provide the Services you ask for;
- to show the right syllabus, papers and plans for your university, course and semester;
- to process payments, activate access, send receipts and renewal reminders;
- to respond to your requests and messages, and to plan new courses from course requests;
- to run community programmes and events you register for, and to issue member ID cards;
- to run the Speak-Up forum and Feedback & suggestions box, keep them safe (including automatic word filtering and moderation), and act on reports;
- to send service updates and, where you have not opted out, news about courses and events;
- to issue and let others verify your certificates, build your law CV, and send the study reminders you ask for;
- to prevent fraud, account sharing and misuse, enforce the one-phone-and-one-computer limit, and keep the Services secure;
- to improve the Services using aggregated statistics; and
- to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We process your data on the basis of your consent, which you give when you sign up, submit a form or pay, and for legitimate uses permitted by law (such as compliance with law and responding to your own requests).
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Service providers who process it for us under contract: Google Firebase / Google Cloud (hosting, authentication, database, email delivery), Razorpay (payments), and our email provider;
- Event partners, only the details needed for an event you register for;
- Authorities, where required by law or to protect rights and safety.
Our providers may store data on servers inside or outside India, with safeguards required under applicable law.
5. How long we keep it
We keep account and learning data while your account is active. Payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require (generally 8 years). Course requests and messages are kept for up to 3 years to plan courses. Forum posts, suggestions and moderation records are kept while the forum runs and for up to 3 years after a post is withdrawn or hidden, so that complaints can be looked into. A certificate's public record (name, college, programme, semester, grade, date and ID) stays available for verification for as long as the certificate is valid, including after you close your account, unless you ask us to withdraw it. Your CV is kept until you delete it or your account. Device records are kept while your account is active and for up to 12 months after a device is replaced, so that sharing complaints can be looked into. Forum posts you publish are visible to other registered members; your mobile number and email are never shown to them. When data is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymised.
6. Your rights
- Access a summary of your personal data and how it is processed;
- Correct and update it (most profile fields are editable at My profile);
- Erase it, and delete your account, subject to records we must keep by law;
- Withdraw consent at any time, which does not affect processing already done;
- Nominate a person to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity;
- Grievance redressal by our Grievance Officer, and thereafter complaint to the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise any right, email privacy@lexblox.com from your registered email address. We respond within the time required by law.
7. Children
If you are under 18, we process your personal data only with verifiable consent of your parent or lawful guardian. We do not track or target advertising at children.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), encryption of paid chapters stored on your device, passwordless sign-in, a device limit, access controls, server-side verification of payments and access, and security rules that stop one user from reading another's data. No system is completely secure; if a personal data breach affects you, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
9. Data kept on your own device
- Study progress. Which topics you have opened, finished or revised, your quiz scores, exam dates and daily target are saved in your browser first, so the app works without a connection, and are copied to your account from time to time. They contain no contact or payment details.
- Offline chapters. Paid chapters saved for offline reading are stored encrypted. The key is held by your browser in a form that page scripts cannot read out, and is removed when you sign out, when the device is signed out, when your subscription ends, or if the device does not connect for 7 days.
- Device identifier. A random identifier (not your phone's IMEI or any hardware ID) that tells us which registered device is asking.
- Signing out removes the key and the saved chapters. Clearing your browser's site data removes everything; you can then sign in again.
- See also our Cookie Policy.
10. Changes
We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest version. Significant changes will be notified.
